1. Who We Are

ClearSign ("we", "us", "our") is an AI-powered contract review service operated by Thomas Guardiani. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use clearsignapp.com ("the Service").

We are committed to handling your personal information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).

2. Information We Collect

Account information: When you register, we collect your name and email address.

Contract content: When you use the Service, you submit contract text or PDF files for analysis. This content is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the analysis and is not stored by us beyond the duration of your session.

Payment information: If you make a purchase, payment is processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your card details — only a Stripe customer ID and your subscription status.

Usage data: We track the number of reviews you have run to enforce free tier limits. We do not run analytics or tracking scripts on the Service.

Support messages: If you contact us via the in-app contact form, we receive your name, email address, and message content.

3. How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the Service
  • To process payments and manage your subscription
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset)
  • To respond to support requests
  • To detect and prevent fraud or abuse

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your contract content for advertising or to train AI models.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate ClearSign:

  • Anthropic — processes contract text to generate AI analysis. Anthropic's data use policies apply to this processing.
  • Stripe — handles all payment processing. Stripe's Privacy Policy applies to payment data.
  • Resend — sends transactional emails (password reset, account emails).
  • DigitalOcean / Laravel Forge — hosts the application on servers located in Sydney, Australia.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account information (name, email, subscription status) for as long as your account is active. Contract content submitted for review is not stored after your analysis is returned.

If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or tax purposes.

6. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, or misuse. The Service is served over HTTPS and account passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing.

No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Act, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate or outdated information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) if you believe we have mishandled your information

8. Cookies

ClearSign uses a session cookie to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by posting a notice on the Service. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
